Online shopping rewards
portals are a type of reward website, with some also offering rewards for other actions, usually including registering with the website.
The advent of online shopping has resulted in the development of a large number of rewards programs that offer rewards for shopping through specific shopping portals. These rewards can be points-based (allowing redemption for various prizes), cashback, airline frequent flyer-miles-based, hotel points, or even donations to charity.
Reward History
Rewards portals exist in most major markets, most notably in the US, Canada, UK, and Australia. The original loyalty program was started in 1896 by Sperry & Hutchinson called Green Stamps which has been digitized into the new S&H greenpoints.com. In the early 1900s, Carlson Marketing owned a company called Gold Stamps and that has similarly been rebranded as GoldPoints.com. At June 1997 the the Discount Home Shopping Club was officially formed and incorporated in Englewood, Florida by its President and Founder, Dick Burke, with its first offices being located in a small apartment over his garage. SCHOENMODE - Last month I went shopping off line with on of the ClubBucks Merchant Affiliates, "Schoenmode" in Belgium. The first thing I noticed when I entered the store was the advertising sign I saw attached to the store door "Approved ClubBucks Merchant".
Marc Goethals, the business owner, gave us a warm welcome and was very helpful while we asked questions and made our purchases. Schoenmode also has a very wide variety of brands to choose from along with very fair prices.
After making our selections, we proceeded to the cash register to pay for our purchases. We presented our ClubBucks Rewards card and Marc took all of the necessary steps required as a ClubBucks Merchant without asking any questions.
Speaking of service, when we returned home with our new shoes, I started to work at my computer again. I went to my Transaction Report and guess what? The paypoints and rebates were already recorded on my report!

APPLIANCES - As our home is a small apartment we have for some time been looking fo a dishwasher that would fit easily into our small kitchen. We spent some time looking around the appliances stores and eventually shortlisted manufacturers and models. So having made identified what we liked and didn't like we made a note of the model number then went straight home and logged into DHS Club. Whilst on line we were able to make comparisons against further manufacturers within the price range and also take into account the various discounts offered. We made our choice of supplier make and model and placed our order. We shall now take delivery of our Dishwasher on the day we want it at a delivery time of our choosing, get a discount and earn Rewards Points too.

RADIO SHACK - This past week on Thursday evening late we had one of our phones go out. We ventured into the ClubShop Mall and found the one we wanted at Radio Shack and it was on special, 20% off! CIRCUIT CITY - Shopping through the Clubshop Mall really worked out great! I had seen the item at our local Circuit City late one night and went home and looked it up in the Clubshop Mall. It cost less through the Clubshop Mall, so I ordered it and paid for it online. The next day I went to the local store's pickup window and picked up the item. It really was easy!
